Starting at the Gasthof Fürberg, carry on a little furhter until you come to a broad, steep path forking off to the left up the former hermitage at the Falkenstein church.
The church on the Falkenstein, or so-called "Wolfgang bed" is supposed to have served St. Wolfgang as a resting-place. Inside the church you'll find the "wishing bell". If after just one pull on the rope, the bell was heard to ring three times, the pilgrims "appartently" had a wish fulfilled.
The path leads on, over fiatter ground, past several chapels, to the Falkensteinsattel, 795m. Here, and a little bit lower down, a marked path bransches off the lovely vantage points, known as the "Scheffelblick" and the "Aberseeblick".
From the col, make your way down to the village of Ried and follow the beautiful lakeside road along, passing the Cog rail wai, to the center of St. Wolfgang.
In the center are the famouse pilgrimage church and the well-known "White hourse inn" situated.
The best way to return to St. Gilgen is by ferryboat.
