The local history museum „Lipphouse“ in Abersee comes from the time around 1500 and was first documented as „Prayttenbach von der Straß“ in 1540.
The name „Lipphouse“ originates from „Philippus“ Eisl, who bought the house in 1574, by what it became an addition to the Breitenbach manor.
The previous flat roof was replaced in 1899 with a steep gable roof with a tuft each on the east and west side.
The „Lipphouse“ was inhabited until 1977, afterwards it was converted into a museum by the in the meantime established „museum society of Abersee“ and opened in 1978 as the “local history museum Lipphouse of Abersee”. The building was neither changed in walling nor in any window and door opening, also did the distribution of the rooms stay the same. The Rustikalornamente (= ornamentation) of the upper wall margin and at the wall edges of the outer wall covering as well as the framing of the door and window could be uncovered at the adaptation
Bit by bit the museum was furnished with exhibits.
