Starting at the parish church in Strobl go through the Moosgasse in a southerly direction and at the first crossing go to the right onto the Seestrasse past the public lido and along route No. 12 a narrower path throught the Blinklingmoos nature reserve along the shore to the "Wassbad", another lido. During the summer season there is a kiosk here where refreshments may be bought. Continue on pass the "Pitznerbauer" farmstead and later the ferry landing stage. Follow the route to the Zinkenbach walk along the road, first on the asphalt and then gravel, through the forest, which was up until 1958 the railway bed of the narrow gauge railway which connected Bad Ischl with Salzburg.
The Zinkenbach:
This steam drains the central area of the Osterhorn mountains with it brings huge masses of gravel and sand into the lake. Thus, in the course of time since the last Ice Age, it has created the large flat area on which the hamlet of "Abersee" is built and at this point it has narrowed the lake down to a mere 300 m. Before reaching the suspension bridge turn left and follow the path No. 15, which runs upstream parallel to the Zinkenbach. The route goes under the main road and if you keep to the left you will reach a street called the "Schulstrasse" which you should follow to the right for 400 m. Then turn to the left and pass the gravel pit - then the path leads uphill into the forest. From here it is a varied walk, going alternately slightly up hill and downhill through a shady forest which occasionally provides a view of the Wolfgangsee and the Schafberg mountain. After crossing the "Niedergaden" road you come to the summer toboggan run and the Mahdhäusl Inn, which is open all year round.
From the Madhäusl the track goes downhill on a narrow road, cross the main highway and go over the bridge to the Strobler Heimathaus (Lipphaus) where you can view the agricultural tools and implements of bygone ages. In the Summer this museum is only open at the weekends but it is also possible to arrange visits during the rest of the week at the town hall in Strobl.
The trail continues over a meadow down to the embankment where the narrow gauge railway was. Go eastwards to the right along the embankment through the Blinklingmoos nature reserve until you reach the sports field and this will bring you back to the Strobl parish church.
